Ok, so after a long drive from Cholula (Puebla) we arrived in Oaxaca where we found a park in the dark. The road to Oaxaca was not that bad but with another master cylinder going out on the Buddha it was pretty darn scary. We made it though. Once here, the next morning we found a new one and installed it. The brakes have never felt so good. I sure hope they work because the drive out of here is going to be hairy.

We met our neighbors Calvin and Leann. This couple is just flat out the BOMB! Calvin and I became buds and with his creative mind we made a trunk for the Baby Buddha so that we can lock up our junk when we are out and about. After about a week here we decided we wanted to see Huatulco and Puerto Escondido which is on the coast about 300 km from here. But before that we had a sushi B-Day dinner for Jo-Ann.

The road from Oaxaca to the cost via HWY 131 has got to be the most messed up road in Mexico. For starters our main map calls it HWY 135, but all the signs call it HWY 131. Whatever it is, its pot hole city, windy enough to get anyone sick and took us about 8 hours to go 150 km to our first actual camping in a tent on the beach. Also was our first time since last season to even see the beach again. It was ok, but not worth the drive to get there. We only stayed one night and then drove south to Huatulco where we found no real place to camp so we got a room for 3 days and rented a scooter to visit all of the Bays. We also had to find a starter for the Baby Buddha. It was no REAL surprise cause we kind of knew it was going out anyway.

For the trip back to the Buddha we took another road. Hwy175. This road has got to be one of the most scenic we have ever seen. Yes it was still as windy as a slinky but we managed to not get sick. We also were not so smart and did not fill up our jerry jug with fuel. We had to buy fuel from a vender to make it to the next Pemex.

Once back in Oaxaca we met some more friends, Brian and Crystal from California. We visited Monte Alban with them and then went to the races were Calvin took first overall for the season. The race was pretty cool. Pretty much stock Volkswagens made to look like a Baja.

So that was our two weeks In Oaxaca. We are now off on the road again headed to Palenque but still not sure on which route to take. So, until next time. Adios
