Now as things dry, we have been rearranging our stuff and still trying to get used to living together and keeping the Buddha clean. This isn’t working yet. I have been busy trying to fix little things, like the TV mount, the windshield wiper water hose, attached the solar panel to the starting battery, re-caulked the satellite antenna, and spent a lot of time helping our new friends Riko and Ann with issues. They brought their homemade motorhome all the way from France to travel the world, starting in New York and are now heading south. You can follow their story here http://switch.top-depart.com .
We finally found a day of rest and brought down the kayak for a trip to the Isla in the Bay of Jaltemba. We also took the snorkel gear with us and had some pretty clear water full of fish. Not a bad spot. We would do some fishing but our gear is not quite what is needed for the fighting ocean fish. Soon as we can find a trout lake we are in. *hmmm, trout in Mexico?
A few days ago we were playing cribbage to pass the evening away and out of the blue Jo-Ann just flew out of her seat reached for the deck of cards and BAM! She wacked the cards down on to the table breaking a peg in the cribbage board and screaming out of control. What the heck was that all about? She lifted the deck of cards up and underneath was a flat bug. We had one of those super flying cockroaches fly in and land on her and she wasn’t about to let it leave. You had to have been there because that was some funny stuff.
Things have been pretty boring as far as tourist things, 2 more days here and then off to Sayulita for some surfing!!! We did stop in Chacala for a few hours but it was overloaded with people so we got out of dodge after I managed to split my head open on the outside mirror. Not a big deal but I do have a nice mark there now. Besides that, the campground we planned on staying in is no more. It is now guarded by security and has a large chain link fence around it. Bummer deal cause it would have been a nice place to stay.
Last night we had a neighbor come over with a bottle of Tequila. This guy is the local bootlegger. He makes three runs to Tequila ever year and has done so for 15 years. He brings the most amazing tequila back to sell to the RVers. We plan on getting a couple liters on Sunday. If I can get him to tell me the name of it I will post it here and be sure to go find some because even for me this stuff was the best and requires no salt or lime.
That’s all we have for now and with the internet price in Sayulita at 40 pesos per hour, we may not get a chance to do much there. What a rip off!
Adios for now.
P.S. Still trying to get the lady to post the rest of Ecuador.
Ryan and Jo-Ann are "ex-cruisers" who decided to get off a boat and on to land. With a 27 foot RV and a 1978 Jeep CJ5. The RV Adventure that only happens in books. From Mazatlan, Mexico to...???, we hope to see and experience what only a few people have ever seen or done.
